Glossary
-
Adjustable door stop
:
element applied directly on the track to prevent the door from banging open or closed. The opening door stop is already mounted inside the counterframe and, thanks to the fully extractable track, can be adjusted as needed. The closing door stop is instead secured after installing the door
-
Alignment bar
:
galvanized sheet profile that acts as second spacer. As wide as the internal counterframe housing for the door pocket and half the length of the pocket, it facilitates on-site installation because it secures the door jamb, keeping it perfectly aligned.
-
Clear passage
:
actual dimensions (width and height) of the opening where the door will be inserted
-
Counterframe
:
metal pocket in the wall, site into which the door “eclipses”
-
Double door coordination
:
accessory for interiors that makes it possible to open and close two doors simultaneously
-
Double junction
:
a universal accessory used to create a double-door system from two single door systems
-
Eclisse Made to Measure
:
Eclisse proprietary software that lets you find the best solution starting from the size of the door panel or desired clear passage
-
Electric connection box (or branching box)
:
the branching box is a plastic housing containing a point (shunt) where the secondary line(s) branch off (shunted) from the primary line, changing direction through the use of switches, power outlets, thermostats, telephone outlets, etc.
-
Estensione
:
system designed to accommodate two door panels
-
Finished wall
:
final thickness of wall housing a sliding door system, including plaster or plasterboard
-
Fused glass
:
cut and shaping of tiles of glass arranged on a glass support base; the process is achieved by a firing cycle that fuses the tiles to the base
-
Horizontal reinforcing bars
:
support for a pocket sliding door system (solid wall version) that is connected to the pocket mesh, giving the counterframe greater resistance and strength and countering the tensions generated as the plaster hardens. They are designed so that there are no empty spaces in the plaster
-
Internal pocket
:
site in which the door slides. For the door to slide, it must be 12-14 mm thinner than the dimension of the pocket
-
Lacquered (wooden doors)
:
panels general of MDF (wood fibreboard that is better than chipboard) processed to make it smooth to the touch and then painted with a glossy or opaque lacquer
-
Laminate (wooden doors)
:
coating created with a printed plastic laminate that resembles wood. The underlying structure is generally made of chipboard
-
Max door weight
:
maximum weight that can be borne by the slide runners. For Eclisse the standard is 80 kg but up to 120 kg is available upon request (for indoor solutions). In the case of blinds or shutters, the max weight is 120 kg
-
Milling
:
particular process performed on wooden door panels
-
Motorised unit
:
accessory for internal and external sliding doors that makes it possible to open and close the door automatically
-
Non-standard
:
non-standard counterframe sizes
-
Opening direction
:
term used to indicate the direction in which the door moves as it enters the wall pocket (right or left)
-
Overboarding plaster-holding mesh
:
tight knurled mesh (50x25 mm) set half way between the sheet and the wall plaster surface to give the plaster a better grip. The Eclisse plaster-holding mesh extends overboard so that no additional mesh needs to be applied
-
Plaster
:
outer surface finishing of the walls. Besides protecting the wall, it can also give the wall an aesthetic finish
-
Plasterboard
:
a construction material. It is currently one of the most widely used materials in the field of light construction because it is fast and easy to install and offers good heat and noise insulation. It is sold in 1200x2000 mm panels although other sizes may be found on the market. For finished walls with a single sheet, the thickness is 12.5 mm
-
Polystyrene joint
:
element fit on top horizontal bar of sliding system for solid walls to help absorb any structural movement
-
Profilo Security
:
extruded aluminium profile to be set in the milled groove on the sliding door. It protects the sliding seat, preventing swelling caused by humidity absorption
-
Radius (Eclisse Circular)
:
measurement of a hypothetical circle running from the edge to the centre line of the counterframe. A lower radius corresponds to greater door bending
-
Rallenty Soft
:
interior accessory. Slows down door panel sliding so that it closes softly
-
Sanding
:
mechanical procedure that erodes the surface-most portion of the material by blasting it with a jet of sand and air, thus etching figures onto the glass
-
Satin finish
:
silky, semi-opaque finish
-
Self-centring door guide
:
plastic element that allows the door to slide perpendicularly to the track. The door guide slides on the milled groove that is standard on pocket sliding doors. It is applied directly on the counterframe and does not require drilling into the floor. With this guide it takes just a few seconds to centre the door, thus saving the time that would have been spent uselessly taking repeated measurements and for drilling the floor
-
Self-centring guide
:
closing system that ensures that the lock hook is centred on the retaining mechanism
-
Siderale
:
system model designed for extra-large openings. With this system it is possible to insert a pocket sliding system, even when the clear passage is as much as 1500 mm wide and 2900 mm high for each door (finished wall thickness 125 mm/150 mm)
-
Slide runners
:
elements that enable the door panel to slide inside the track. Slide runners with ball bearings ensure long-lasting, smooth and silent sliding. They are rated to bear weights of 80 kg or 120 kg
-
Snap-together assembly
:
makes it possible to assemble counterframes directly in the yard and to the desired thickness (finished wall thickness 100 mm or 125 mm)
-
Stud wall installation kit
:
unassembled version of a sliding door system. It makes it possible to optimize loads as it takes up limited space: 140 x 2310 x 110 mm. It also lets you select the right thickness for the specific door (th.100 / th. 125) right there in the yard
-
Tanganyika
:
a variety of wood. It can be hollow cored or solid
-
Telescopic Synchronisation System
:
accessory that makes it possible to simultaneously slide two doors in the same direction
-
Textured sheet (embossed)
:
sheet metal that has been textured to give the counterframe greater stiffness and strength. Eclisse textured sheet is 0.7 mm thick
-
Top horizontal bar
:
upper fixed horizontal element of the counterframe to which the track (fully extractable) is secured
-
Toughened glass/tempered glass
:
glass that undergoes a toughening process in which the material is heated to 500-700 °C and then rapidly cooled. It gives the sheet of glass greater resistance. In case of impact the glass crumbles into tiny fragments
-
Track (fully extractable)
:
site on which the carriage slides, making it possible to move the door. The ability to fully extract the track ensures that parts subject to wear (track, accessories, door stops, etc.) can be replaced and accessories retroactively installed.
-
Under frame tear-off profile
:
metal profile that corrects any height differences encountered between the previously laid counterframe and the finished floor
-
Unico
:
system characterized by a single door panel
-
Window opening
:
central section of the door where a glass panel can be inserted
